On 9am, October 29^th 2006 thousands of companies and guests gather inWuxi for the official opening of the 2006 China (Wuxi) International Textileand Clothing Fair & Multinational Purchase Fair. 

Chen Shujin, Vice chairman of  China National Textile And Apparel Council;Dai Yueqiang, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Economic and Trade Commission; XieMing, Chairman of Jiangsu Textile Industry Association; Yang Jichao,Secretary-General of China National Textile And Apparel Council;  Mao Xiaoping, Mayor of Wuxi Municipal People’s Government; Huang Wei, President ofShenzhen New World Group; Yang Weize, Party Secretary of Wuxi Municipal;Wu Jianxuan, Deputy mayor of Wuxi etc. attended the opening ceremony.

Leaders of China National Garment Association; Hemp Industry Association; Branch ofChina Council for Promotion of International Trade of Textile Industry; Textileand Clothing Associations of brother provinces like Guangdong, Fujian,Zhejiang, Shandong, Hebei, etc.; Development Research Center, DevelopmentStrategy and Regional Economic Research Center of the State Council; and theWuxi Municipal People’s Congress and Wuxi CPPCC also attended the openingceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Wuxi Deputy Mayor, Tan Xueming.

 “Wuxi is known as Wharf of Fabrics, and has a long history of textile industrydevelopment” Mao Xiaoping, Mayor of Wuxi said on the opening speech. Wuxi hasgiven strong support to the textile and clothing industry since theimplementation of reform and opening-up. Large-scale adjustments and upgradeshave been taken in textile industry, which led to the popping up of brands like“Yangguang”, “Hongdou”, “Xiexin”. To date, Wuxi Textile and Clothing industryenjoys   broad range of products,advanced technical equipments and good reputation of products; it has soundvisibility and influences both in the domestic and foreign markets; and itseconomic and technical indexes are among the best in all cities throughout thecountry, all of which made it an important manufacturing and exporting base oftextile products in China. Textile and Clothing Fair is co-hosted with theMultinational Purchase Fair this year which will be based on cooperation and aimingat development. It attracts thousands of enterprises and hundreds of overseasbuyers. This activity will for sure bridge communication, cooperation, win-winand development of textile and clothing industry at home and abroad; push the enterpriseto explore international market further; and promotes Wuxi’s , even China’shealthy and rapid developments of textile and clothing industry

Representatives of industrial clusters across the country, thousands oftextile and clothing enterprises and hundreds of professional oversea buyersgather here today. This is a sign that we have taken a big step towardsglobalization ” Yang Jichao, Secretary-General of China National Textile And Apparel Council.Two important activities hosted by Jiangsu Council of Fashion Designers- the “NewWorld International Cup” Women’s Wear Design Contest and Jiangsu Top TenFashion Designers Contest – will be held during the Textile and Clothing Fairas well. This is the embodiment of Wuxi’s position as the industrial base.

Yang Weize, Party Secretary of Wuxi Municipal, and leader of MXGS corporation in HoChi Minh City, Vietnam unveiled the plaque for “60 USA clothing brands enterinto New World International Textile City” and “Wuxi New World InternationalProcurement Center of Vietnam” respectively.

Accompanying with the deafening sound of gongs and drums, Chen Shujin, Vice chairman of  China National Textile And Apparel Council,announced that the 2006 China(Wuxi) International Textile and Clothing Fair& Multinational Purchase Fair opened.

When the opening ceremony ended, leaders and representatives visit the site of theFair with receptionist leading the way.
