The opening ceremony of the 6^th Bi-city Biennale ofUrbanism/Architecture was held at Fomer Dacheng Flour Factory in Shekou,Shenzhen on Dec. 4^th, 2015. Leaders of Shenzhen City, the four majorExhibition Planner- Aaron Betsky, Alfredo Brillembourg, Hubert Klumpner andDoreen Heng Liu, together with exhibitors from home and abroad attended thelaunch ceremony. Yanjun and Hebin, General Manager and Marketing Director ofShenzhen New World Group attended the opening ceremony. The Bi-city Biennale ofUrbanism/Architecture which has gone through a 10-year history came back with abang and was themed with “Re-living the City” this time. 86 works from aroundthe world were displayed at the main exhibition area, with the purpose ofraising the public’s recognition and attention of the city itself; and a seriesof fantastic activities were held to make all citizens to take part in thisbiennial cultural feast. The exhibition will last until Feb. 28^th,2016.

This has been the second time that Shenzhen New World Group attended theexhibition. As the main sponsor of this exhibition, New World Group encouragereuse and rethink of the status quo of architecture, and to further conceive ofcity with the purpose of reshaping people’s daily life through design. NewWorld Group believes that the development of city should not just aim atfaster, but also better. City should have higher sustainability andcomfortableness and the openness of coping with changes and reconstructions,and should have a better appearance. The best way to improve the urbanenvironment is to approach from the existing conditions and start from now. Thisshould be done through integrating all existing resources, rather than throughplanning abstract grids to limit people’s live, work and entertainment.

In 1993, the pace of urban construction of Shenzhen was extraordinarily fast, many tallbuildings had sprung up. Its reputation “Shenzhen speed” and “Exploiter” rockedthe whole country. New World Group was born under this circumstance, and becamea member of city builders who added bricks and tiles to the city.

In 2015,Shenzhen became an international metropolis. It was a flourishing city bustledwith life that set new records repeatedly in the field of urban construction. Butthe excessive growth of urban construction had caused problems like resourceconsumption, environmental pollution, sever fog and haze, lack of humanity andso on; all these problems made us, builder of this city, to reflect. Meanwhile,New World Group shifted its role from city builder to city manager. New WorldGroup believed that as an enterprise with a sense of mission, we need not onlyspeed and efficiency of urban construction, but also the mission andresponsibility as city manager.

Year 2093 will be the year that bears New World Group’s nice vision ofbeing a century enterprise. It also expresses New World Group’s determination tobear its mission to the city, to make unremitting efforts for the harmoniouscoexist of human and environment, and to make every citizen the manager andparticipant of this city. Building a much more harmonious city and making lifebetter!
