Frequent occurrence of fire accidents across the nation recently sound the alarm to improve citizens’awareness of fire prevention. Wuxi New World International Textile and Garment City is the only market that was granted the license for selling dangerous chemical product in this district. Within the City, there are plenty of merchants selling paint, so fire safety is especially important here. For the furtherance of fire safety education to managerial personnel and merchants, and to improve their fire prevention ability and their ability to deal with emergencies, and to teach them the correct way to use fire extinguisher and other fire fighting equipments and escaping skills, a fire fighting drill was held jointly by the Security Dept., Management Dept., and Project Dept. of New World International and merchants of the Market. This drill was greatly supported by New District Government and the Fire Dept.. Director Zhou, Division chief Qian of Industrial Expo Park and Captain Lu of Fire Dept. , Officer Qian of Industrial Expo Park Police Station gave field instrumentations for the drill.

Xu Jialin, general manager of New World International held the general mobilization. More than a hundred participants line up in order and were divided into police affairs group (call the police and answering alarm), Communication group, peripheral vigilant group, fire fighting group, evacuation group and equipment support group. Fire fighters explain the method of use of extinguisher, smoke mask and water cannons, and tips on escape and evacuation, and treatment of dangerous situation in full detail. All participants were listening carefully.

The first part of the drill was simulated fire alarm. When the security guard verified that there is a fire, he informed the commander in chief through walkie-talkie immediately, and then the commander in chief gave orders to start the drill. Fire emergency pre-arranged process started at the same time, and fire resistant shutter, smoke control valve and automatic water spray system which controlled by the Fire Control Center started running. Staffs and merchant who belongs to evacuation group evacuate from fire locale rapidly and in good order using wet towels to cover their mouth and nose. Fire fighting group used foam extinguisher to put out the fire.

Along with the arrival of 3 fire engines of the Fire Dept., the drill reached its climax. Fire fighters laid the pipes, assembled the equipments very quickly and then conducted repressive water spray toward the fire on floor 2-3 of textile market; rescue of merchants who were crying for help on the roof was conducted through 37 meters height ladder truck and emergency injury treatment was given to merchants when they landed…

The whole drill is well-organized and the process is intense and ordered, and every Dept. cooperates closely with the merchants, thus, it achieved the anticipated effect and was recognized both by merchants and governmental leaders. And awareness of fire prevention of all participants has been significantly improved.
